The Downward Spiral; How to Stop It
Geoffrey Ronning, CH, CI
The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer, the successful are getting more successful and the failure prone continue on the downward spiral. ost of us have great success in some areas and are falling prey to the downward spiral in others. Here is how to stop it. One Thing Leads to Another
It does not take an expert to know that one action leads to another, and one step leads to another. The fact of the matter is that I see a lot of people on a downward spiral, daily. Pattern of Behavior becomes Habitual Each decision and action we take leads us down a path, the further down the path we move the more likely we are to remain on that path. We can call these paths habits, and we understand (or we should understand) that all of us live our lives as one big habitual occasion after another. For the most part, we live our lives unconscious. * We go to the store and buy the same foods we did previously, without regard to their health benefits. * We take the same actions in our business today, that we did yesterday, without regard to what is being generated. * We treat the loved ones in our lives the same today, as we did last month * etc. We continue on and on running in our little mazes. We all do this. The problem is when the maze we are running is hindering our progress, then each step, takes down further and further. How to Stop the Downward Spiral There are many ways to address it but only one way to really stop it. The person must understand it is not to their benefit to continue on the current path. They must GET that there are more benefits going another direction. The Beauty of What We Do That for me is the beauty of what we do. We can affect deep change in all areas of life, including our own. By recognizing, admitting, applying and working, we can take any area of our lives (or others) and change it from victim to victorious. Action Step: Q: What area of life would you like to make a change? A: Q: Let me ask you, if you continue on your current path, what will that give you? A: So, depending on your answer, can you see a more beneficial direction to go now? That was easy... head out on that path to success!
